Introduction
It’s possible to lock a ROM to a vehicle Identification Number (VIN) using ProECU. Any file can be VIN locked even TCM ROMs can be lock to a MOTEC or Syvecs ECM if used. The VIN can be copied directly from the ECU Identify tool along with the CAL ID. To use the ECU Identify tool follow the steps below
- Select "Tools" menu
- Select " Identify ECU"
- Copy the CAL ID from the box
- Copy the VIN from the box
The ECU Identify tool can be used by the end user to accurately give you the information required to successfully VIN Lock and Key a ROM to a dongle.
The ROM Keying and Vin Locking Process.
For a ROM to be VIN locked it must also be Keyed to a dongle then restricted to a specific VIN. Follow the steps below to complete the process
- Open the tuned ROM file of the correct CAL ID and go to the Keying Window
- Enter the dongle that you wish to key the tune file too (allow reading = the can open but not change) and enter any keying comments you require
- Tick the Restrict programming to specific VIN box
- Then copy the VIN number into the VIN box
- Save the ROM as a Keyed ROM in the File Menu.
