So you have decided to tune your car and you want to go the EcuTek Phone flash route. You will have found a tuner that you want to work with and ordered an EcuTek Bluetooth Vehicle interface (EVI-BT) and a remote tuning service (file or custom). Once you have received your kit (or before if you prefer) you can go through After Install Setup process to get registered and assigned so when the EVI-BT arrives you can start programming straight away.
The first step in this process is to Download an install ECU Connect from the app store
Google play store or Apple App store
Once installed you can run the app and the start sign up process, the next step is to select a tuner.
There are how to video's available documenting process here
The first step after installing the app and opening ECU Connect is to select a tuner
If you have recently purchased a kit and have purchased further tuning services find their name on the list and select them, use the search option to speed things up.
Alternatively, you don’t have to select a tuner just yet, you can use the app without one, it will mean that you cannot receive Flash File etc.
EcuTek Account Creation
once you have selected a tuner the app will ask for an EcuTek account login
Follow the account creation or login procedure to access the home screen of the app. Alternatively press skip for now to start using the non Phone flash options of ECU connect. When creating an account simply enter you details plus read and agree to the terms and conditions.
Once completed press create to finalise your account, ECU Connect will have logged you in automatically.
Bluetooth Connection and EVI-BT pairing
If you have your vehicle interface you can now plug the interface in and pair the interface to your device. The instructions for connecting and pairing to the device are shown here
Bluetooth Connection Explained
You will then need to plug in the interface, turn the ignition on and pair the vehicle interface to your device (using the devices Bluetooth settings menu) to do this open the settings menu and find the EVI-BT, selecting it to pair with the device.
Then in ECU Connect enter a passcode, this will then need to be confirmed and then the vehicle will be detected
Programming Your Vehicle for the First time
To program your car for the first time there are a few initialisation and vehicle identification processes required so that your tuner can link to your account and vehicle. To start the process you should first have completed the ECU Connect After install setup procedure or logged into your account and selected a tuner. If you haven’t the options will be offered during this process.
You will also need to have ECU Connect installed and the Bluetooth Vehicle Interface (EVI) plugged into the vehicle OBD port and paired correctly to your device. Then open ecu connect (if you have multiple EVI-BT’s paired select the correct EVI-BT)
When in the main menu select “Program ECU” then “Send Vehicle Info to Tuner”
In the “Send Vehicle info” page fill in the details and press “Send To Tuner”.
If your Cal ID is not currently supported there will be more vehicle detail options to fill in and an option to read the engine calibration out of the vehicle so it can be sent to EcuTek and support added.
More information can be found here Rom Dump Procedure.
Hopefully this information helps to get logs to your tuner directly from ECU connect improving not only communication and speed but the quality of logs and reports as well. If you have any further question please send these in to email@example.com.
