If for some reason the programming attempt fails there is a recovery option that can be used in Ecu Connect. If you know the reason for failure and the app and interface are still powered you may be able to simply press program again. If this option doesn’t work or isn’t available exit the app unplug the EVI-BT and key off then reconnect the EVI-BT again and start the app.

Finding the Cause of the failed programming attempt
Make sure to check and determine the cause of the programming failure. Reading the Error message details created by the failed programming attempt will help point you at the reason for the programming failure, to view the programming log error messages go to my “My files” -> “ Programming Logs”

In the above case it was a time out error for the OBD communications, connections between the OBD port and the EVI should be checked and battery power confirmed. The list of the common error messages and possible resolutions can be found here.
You can select the programming log and send that to your tuner for them to use or forward through to EcuTek Support.

Recovery Programming
When you think you have addressed the cause of the failure you can attempt to recover the ECU, do this by starting the app and pressing my car, after it tries and fails to detect the ECU the option for recovery will show. Select “Recover ECU” and then choose the correct Vehicle, The last programmed vehicle should be correct if not manually choose the correct vehicle type. Then select Program ECU and select a stock FLASH FILE

Once you select the correct vehicle type you can choose a Stock FLASH FILE and attempt to program the vehicle again, Once the vehicle is recovered it should all operate normally. If you don’t have a Stock Flash File for your ECU please contact your tuner.

Failed Programming with no “last recognised vehicle“ option
When the app opens you are presented with the “None” option from the last recognised vehicle screen, you can select the “Choose Another” ECU button. Once selected you will be able to manually select the correct ECU type from the list of supported ECU’s.
Note: it is very important to choose the correct vehicle type at this stage, if you have any questions regarding your ECU type contact your tuner for the appropriate choices.

Choose the correct vehicle make in the Vehicle make selection for example Nissan.

Choose the correct Vehicle model Selection for example GTR

Choose the correct Model Year Selection with the correct ECU types, if you are unsure of the ECM type or ECM/TCM combination please contact your tuner. For example 2017-2018 1.5MB ECM + 1.5MB TCM

Ask your tuner if you are unsure of the ECU type
Once you have selected the correct vehicle type you will be able to Program the available ECU’s, simple choose the stock Flash File for your vehicle and Press the program button.
Hopefully this information helps to get logs to your tuner directly from ECU connect improving not only communication and speed but the quality of logs and reports as well. If you have any further question please send these in to support@ecutek.com.
